Research Month
May 2021 will be Research Month for the WMFC. We are proud of the research we funded in the past. We want to continue this good work through a fund raising effort in May.
To increase the awareness of WM in Canada and to support Research Month, I am going to try to walk 10 km each day in May. The Telegraph Journal (our local newspaper) and Global News carried the story; links to the newspaper article and the Global News interview follow. Perhaps you would like to start thinking about your own walk, or supporting me, or just send your encouragement!

Brukinsa Approved by Health Canada
Brukinsa (Zanubrutinib) has been approved by Health Canada, and the first two WM patients in Canada to receive it have had their drugs shipped to their respective hospitals. This is good news for all of us because the more WM treatment options that are available to Canadian WMers, the better off we are.
Dr. Christine Chen (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre)
One of the research projects we are supporting is Christine Chen’s study of peripheral blood in the diagnosis of WM. Dr. Chen is still looking for volunteers for her study. For more information, Dr. Chen can be reached at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Jeremy Hinchcliffe
In March, Arlene Hinchcliffe’s husband, Jeremy, passed away. Jeremy had always been a generous and strong WMFC supporter. Arlene is the founder and former President of the WMFC. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to Arlene and her family.
